| Subject: Attempting to feed my Tarantula a cricket who may be molting Fri Feb 19, 2010 3:02 pm | |
| Since it's been 1 week now since I last attempted to feed a cricket to my Tarantula last Thurs. evening & he didn't eat it at all, I'm still (educated guess) from everything I've read about Tarantulas behavior & molting, believe he maybe getting to molt soon! Part of me wants to just place a cricket in there to see if he'll grab it, but I know I shouldn't esp. if my T's really getting ready to molt & the cricket will just end up stressing him out & I know Tarantula's bodies are very fragile before & after they molt. But I also remember reading in one of my books that Tarantulas can go weeks or even a month or maybe more w/out eating. I still provide my T w/ fresh water in his dish though. Should I just continue to wait like I've been doing to actually see if my Tarantula will molt in the next several days or in another week? | |

| You can introduce a cricket to your tarantula. After a couple of hours if the cricket is still there then pull it out. Try again in four to five days. If they do not eat after a couple of hours, take it out again. Eventully your tarantula will molt or eat. I had a mexican red knee that went three weeks without eating before a molt. I had a wild caught rose hair quit eating for weeks the had an eggsack.... Keep trying and document the results and share them with us. | |
